An Agent of Change...

The bombardment over the weekend was deafening.  Suddenly, it was politically "fashionable" to be viewed as a "catalyst for change". Everyone began the justification process of defending all past actions as steps in the process of providing the desired goal: "real change".

It was time to convince the general public that their support will always deliver the "change" they are seeking. Let's develop a new message, complete with catchy tag line, and repeat it over and over again until we reach the point that even we believe we have been providing "change". And so it was this past weekend.

Being "an agent of change" encompasses thought, deed, and providing desired results.  It is not limited to rhetoric, but the broadcast message must be sincere, and perceived from the heart.  It is not enough claiming to be "an agent of change".  The Agent of Change steps forward from the pack, creates an environment of change against all odds and criticism, and demonstrates to the masses a willingness to provide expected results. This was the fuel that produced the goal of "putting a man on the Moon before the end of this decade. We will do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard".  That visionary truly was "an agent of change", a  leader for his, and all time. Use this standard to evaluate one's commitment when they say, "I am an agent of change".

What about you, and your business? Are you "an agent of change"? Is your business innovative enough to create a wave of "new changes"? Does your business lead the pack of new ideas, or simply content to run with the herd in the hopes of catching the leaders?  Is your business complacent with its goals, direction, and accomplishments? Does your business thrive, or is ir simply trying to survive? Are you creating the buzz, or just resonating someone else's message?

Learn to become "an agent of change", for the good of your business. And, as always, we welcome your comments.
